Artcut Authentication Issues

Some of our customers have expereinced problems with the software Artcut 2005 & 2009 that were provided for free with our vinyl cutters. The problem is caused by Artcut authentication program: Artcut keeps asking for Authentication Disc (or Graphic Disc). The workaround solutions are:

If you are using Artcut 2009, download a copy of the software (2009 March edition) here.

After you reinstall Artcut, you will need to follow the instructions to reconfigure your Artcut software to communicate with our cutter. Here is the device setup guide for Artcut 2009 in case you lost it.

If you use Artcut 2005 or 2009 and have problem after the daylight saving time change last weekend (2009-10-31), here is the workaround solution:

1. Go to your Windows\system32 directory, and delete a file called wtcy9853.dat.
2. Change the computer system clock's year to 2008 (from 2009).
3. Double click the Artcut Software icon on your desktop. It will prompt you to insert the CD-R, blah blah.
4. Insert the Graphic Disk into your CD-ROM drive and click OK. Wait for a minute of two and let the program read the license data and generate a new copy of wtcy9853.dat file. The program will display its flash screen and close.
5. Double click the Artcut software icon on your desktop again. The software now runs and displays the Create / Open dialog.
6. Change your system clock back to 2009!

Now you have passed the license data validation and the program should work properly now! After you reinstall Artcut 2005, you will need to follow the instructions to reconfigure your Artcut 2005 to communicate with our cutter. Here is the device setup guide for Artcut 2005 in case you lost it.

Attention, Artcut Users!

We have been giving away Artcut software for free in every cutter we sold in the past. Due to issues with Artcut authentication and demand for better support for Adobe Illustrator file formats, we have decided to drop Artcut software from our cutter packages. Instead, we will offer Flexi Starter in our cutter packages. If you are currently using Artcut, we recommend you migrate to Flexi Starter. We will offer you special price for such migration.
